Referral: Maryn McKenna On Tick Borne Illnesses

Our favorite scary disease girl, Maryn McKenna, has just published a terrific article in Condé Nast’s SELF Magazine on the growing tide of tick borne illnesses across the United States.

As a Lymie who went misdiagnosed for years, and who after treatment still deals with post-Lyme syndrome, I identify greatly with the stories Maryn writes so eloquently about in this article.

But as she points out, it isn’t just Lyme disease any more;  babesiosis, ehrlichiosis, STARI, and anaplasmosis are all carried by ticks, and on the rise.

Given the spread of these pathogens (even encroaching into large cities) - and how frequently they go undiagnosed - you really should put this article at the top of your morning’s reading list.
