A brief update on the two suspected H5N1 cases in Balikpapan, Indonesia from earlier this week.
Like the four other suspect cases in Sulawesi, the 15 year-old who has been in isolation for nearly a week at Kusnojoso Djatiwibowo Hospital (RSKD) has tested negative for the bird flu virus.
Another suspect case, that of a 5-year-old girl, remains open as test results are awaited.
Despite the negative test results, residents are warned to remain vigilant as the virus spreads among local poultry.
