A machine translation of the announcement reads:
BIRD FLU CASE UNTIL APRIL 2011
Based on the results of Research and Development Laboratory of Health Ministry of Health, JZ (P, 8 years), who West Jakarta has tested positive for H5N1 virus (bird flu).
JZ (P, 8 years) experienced onset of illness on April 1, 2011 with symptoms of fever, cough and chest pain. Patients treated at AI referral hospitals in Jakarta on 8 April 2011 and have handled cases
Although we continue to see isolated human infections around the world, for now H5N1 is primarily a threat to poultry.
The virus remains poorly adapted to human physiology, and despite ample opportunities in places like Egypt and Indonesia, only causes rare, sporadic infections.
Nevertheless, the H5N1 virus has an extraordinarily high mortality rate (50%+), and so we watch it carefully for any signs that it may be adapting to humans.
