Indonesia's Ongoing Battle

Although Indonesia hasn't submitted an OIE report detailing outbreaks of H5N1 in their poultry since September of 2006, we know from local newspaper stories that these outbreaks occur more or less constantly, and throughout most of that country.

It really isn't considered `news' anymore, at least by most media outlets outside of Indonesia.  And even within that bird flu beleaguered nation, many smaller outbreaks undoubtedly go unreported.

Our hard working newshounds on the flu forums often translate and report these stories, as do the newshounds and editors of some of the flu blogs.

While not exactly `breaking news', they are important pieces of information, particularly when `suspect' human cases arise from the same locations.

We can also get some idea as to how well local authorities are doing (or not)  in controlling the virus by these reports.

From the Bird Flu Information Corner, which over the past few months has become one of our best sources of information out of Indonesia, we get a nice roundup of some of the poultry outbreaks reported in the Indonesian media over the past couple of days.
