Australia's Department of Health and Ageing has released a revised management plan for an influenza pandemic on their www.flupandemic.gov.au website.
This is an update of the 2006 plan previously released.
The plan comes by way of a 145 page PDF file (about 4mb), which at first glance appears to contain a good deal of important information.
I hope to find time in the near future to examine it in detail.
Preparing for pandemic influenza
This website provides important information about pandemic influenza, including what the Australian Government will do if it happens, and what individuals, businesses, communities and health care professionals can do to prepare for and respond to a flu pandemic.
Even though Australia is well equipped, governments alone cannot respond effectively to a flu pandemic. It is important that we are all prepared for the possibility of a pandemic and ready to respond to the threat to help slow the spread of infection and lessen the impact.
The Australian Health Management Plan for Pandemic Influenza 2008 (AHMPPI 2008) is a national health plan for responding to an influenza pandemic, based on international best practice and evidence.
The National Action Plan for Human Influenza Pandemic (NAP) (external link) describes how the Australian Government and state, territory and local governments will cooperate in prevention, preparedness, response and recovery from a human influenza pandemic.
