Former Senate Majority leader Tom Daschle has reportedly been selected by President-Elect Obama to head the Department of Health and Human Services, according to this report from Fox News.
Senator Daschle will now join the President-elect's transition team.
Although Senator Daschle left the senate before pandemic influenza became a front-burner issue, he is certainly familiar with our nation's vulnerabilities to nature's pathogens.
His office was one of the targets of the 2001 anthrax letter attacks, and several of his staffers were reportedly exposed to that biological agent.
