Hello, Dolly!

Suddenly the tropics have begun to heat up, and we now have 3 named storms roaming the Atlantic and Caribbean. It is a bit unusual to have 3 named storms all at the same time in the month of July.

Bertha, just visible at the very top of the graphic below, is on her way out and should be extra-tropical by tomorrow.

Cristobal, off the Carolina coast, should clear the outer banks tonight and head out to sea.

Dolly is the new kid on the block. She was named at 11am EDT this morning and is literally racing (17mph) towards Yucatan. She should clear that land mass tomorrow morning and residents of Southern Texas and/or Northern Mexico will have to deal with her later in the week.

For now, Dolly is forecast to remain a tropical storm.

UPDATED: Monday 7/21 Dolly is now forecast to reach Hurricane Strength before landfall.

All of this is simply a reminder that the brunt of the Hurricane season lies before us, and of the necessity of being prepared.

It doesn't take a pandemic to ruin your entire day. Hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, and earthquakes are equally effective.
