For the second day in a row, Indonesian authorities are reporting on a death due to the H5N1 virus;  this time it's the 16-year-old girl who had been hospitalized since January 4th.

Although her condition had been reported as `stable' as recently as yesterday, news reports have had her on a respirator, and that is generally an ominous sign.

Ha Noi (VNA) – The Indonesian Health Ministry on January 15 confirmed the 96th human death of bird flu in the country, foreign media reported.
The victim is a 16-year-old Indonesian girl from Bekasi city outside the country’s capital.

She died while being treated at a Jakarta hospital after first being admitted with bird flu symptoms to a private hospital in her home district on January 4.

Earlier, the ministry reported that a 32-year-old woman who died on January 10 was the 95th death of the disease. Two local laboratory tests confirmed the patient was infected with the H5N1 strain of the virus.

The woman, from the western outskirts of Jakarta, came down with severe pneumonia and died shortly after going to a hospital.-Enditem
