While the source of the virus remains a mystery, there have been no new reports of outbreaks in the Norfolk-Suffolk area of the UK.
Bird flu restrictions to be eased

Defra has today announced a timetable to lift restrictions following last month's two outbreaks of bird flu on free-range poultry farms in Norfolk and Suffolk.
The restictins on movement and also the requirement to house birds were immediately when the first outbreak was confirmed at Park Farm, Redgrave, near Diss, on November 12.
The intention is to lift the first protection zone - the 3km radius around the first confirmed case of avian flu - on Saturday, Decmeber 8.
The second 3km protection zone, which is around the holding at Knettishall, will be lifted on Monday, December 10.
If the disease status remains unchanged, then movement restrictions in the wider surveillance zone - roughly the 10km radius around the two sources of infection - and the restricted zone, covering the whole of Suffolk and large parts of Norfolk will be lifted on Wednesday, December 19.
But, there is good news for outdoor poultry keepers because the requirement to house birds within the wider restricted zone (but outside the surveillance zone) will end on Monday, December 10.
Other restrictions on bird gatherings and movements of poultry and poultry meat within the zones will remain in place.
