From time to time I like to point out the work of other bloggers that cover the Avian flu front. We are blessed with a number of hard working, informative, and interesting bloggers that hail from a variety of backgrounds.
I freely admit that I start my morning by checking the doings at Crof'sblog, Effect Measure, and SophiaZoe's blog before I write anything myself. I consider their sites, along with a handful of others, essential daily stops.
SophiaZoe, whose blog is entitled A Journey Through The World of Pandemic Influenza, is admittedly a personal friend. I've been lucky enough to meet her and her husband on two occasions, and correspond and chat with her regularly. She and her hubby are both ex-cops, and I discovered last year they worked the streets of a large southern city along side my paramedic twin-brother back in the 1980's.
It is a small world sometimes.
SophiaZoe took some time off from blogging earlier this year to attend to some personal obligations, but I'm happy to report she is back, and writing better than ever.
Today she has written an important piece on the use of Probenecid to extend our Tamiflu supplies. This is something I've addressed in the past, but quite frankly, I learned a good deal from this morning's blog that I didn't know. An excellent read, and well worth your time.

Yesterday she addressed the issue of using statins, common cholesterol medications, to reduce the feared cytokine storm response in avian flu patients. Again, a terrific and easily understandable post.
